Doctors, nurses, medical staff, and essential employees were on the front lines in the deadly fight against Covid 19 in New York City, in the United States. The sound of ambulance sirens never stops, and hospitals are overwhelmed, with most adding makeshift emergency tents and refrigerated morgues to keep up with the skyrocketing numbers of patients and the dead. The military brings reinforcements in the form of the USS Naval Hospital Ship Comfort and the Javits Convention Center is converted into an emergency facility to take Covid-19 patients from area hospitals. Samaritan’s Purse erects an emergency field hospital in Central Park. Thousands are ordered to shelter in place, socially isolating in their homes as the deadly coronavirus pandemic stops a city with a population of 8.3 million in its tracks, with streets, subway, Time Square, Central Park, and Grand Central Station empty and deserted. Most wear face masks and residents stand in long queues outside grocery stores to buy food.
